Company calling back to the office

How did you stumble upon your remote role?

I was promoting remote work well before the pandemic, but there was some resistance in the organization. Obviously, nobody complained when Covid came and we transitioned to full remote keeping the business up&running with no help. We improved our practices until the company wanted people back in the office at least 2-3 days a week. Somebody liked it, many accepted it, and others decided to quit.

I gave a very long notice to replace me, and I left in good terms. It was never meant to be a fully remote position, and there was no valid reason to blame the company.

Embracing remote working, we adopted positive practices to make the work more efficient and less dependent on single people. For example, we produced massive documentation, automated some tasks, and some meetings really became an email. All lost. During my last weeks, I saw our progress reverted to the old-good-way by one “expert” who had joined the company only a few months earlier and left shortly after me. I am sorry to say that it was a missed opportunity.
