I don’t believe that this is a fair way to pay people. If you pay everyone the same amount, some have way better lives than others.
Let me put it the other way. Your company hires only locally and pays the local rates. The competitor next door is hiring only remote employees from a third-world country and pays peanuts for the staff. Now your company needs to cut salaries to stay competitive and starts hiring from cheaper countries to spend less.
