Wouldn't you agree that working from home is a logistical nightmare?

Starting from this comment

Working from home is a logistical nightmare.

You can’t just randomly ask someone across your desk for a quick answer to a question.

You have to go through a series of emails, share your screen, and explain things over the phone, all whilst worrying they’re annoyed with you because you can’t see their body language or hear their tone of voice IRL.

In-person offices have worked for decades for a reason.

Human beings are collaborative. And that means solving problems together, in real-time, in person.

Wouldn’t you agree?

You see the problem in the wrong way. You need information, not to interrupt someone’s reasoning to ask a question.

Start documenting your stuff. Implement a chat to ask questions, transform the answers in a faq, repeat.

Horses have worked for centuries to move people around. Eventually someone found a better solution.

I find it amazing that there are still comments like that after two years having half of the world working remotely. You may not like, and there is nothing wrong with that, however, it is a missed opportunity refusing to look into it to get inspiration. Documenting everything and creating FAQs improve remote work as well as the old classic in-person.

The mindset of “hey, let me interrupt you to ask you something” should be left to the past, regardless how you work.
