Misinformation on social media

The mechanism of virality makes the content of the worst kind popular because the closer a post is to be unacceptable, the more popular it becomes.

TikTok and Twitter are the “best” platforms to amplify misinformation, while Facebook has the highest number of misinformation content. Unsurprisingly, politics is the most common content of this type.

Defending ourselves is not that hard. Search engines (like Google) are not engagement-centric and prioritise sources that are accurate and reliable. Just don’t confuse Google, the search engine, with YouTube, which is engagement-centric and a mixed bag of quality.
