It’s been a while since my last post: work and a big project have kept me busy, and the blog had to take a backseat.
Reviving my Mastodon and BlueSky accounts, I was pleased to discover that a bridge now exists, enabling users to follow BlueSky accounts from Mastodon and vice versa. However, since the bridge is opt-in, it won’t function automatically for many accounts.
Anyway… now my Mastodon account https://hachyderm.io/@alberto can be followed from BlueSky with the handle alberto.hachyderm.io.ap.brid.gy and my BlueSky account alros.bsky.social can be followed from Mastodon with the handle @alros.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy. Amazing.
It remains a mystery to me why BlueSky’s designers opted for a federation protocol that is not adopted by other platforms.
